Today I interviewed senior Megan Massa to ask a few questions about her experiences in softball, her future plans, and objectives for this season. Megan has been playing outfielder or pitcher on varsity for the past four years. She explains each position with, “Outfielder is what I play most. It basically just means I catch in the back pot. As for the few times I’ve played as a pitcher, I’d just throw underhand so that the batter can hit it.” The record this year so far has been 4-2 with only 10 more league games left. Megan says she’s confident that there will be more games than that, since they do plan on going to playoffs. “Our biggest competitors so far are Vacaville who’s 1st in the league, and Armijo who’s second in the league. We are third.” We also talked about the relationship she has with the team and she responded with, “This has probably been the closest team I’ve had, mostly because majority are seniors. We all hang outside of school like over spring break we all went to the beach. It was really fun.” Going on and talking about her plans after high school, Megan plans on pursuing her scholarship she got from Concordia University Irvine, a Division 2 college, where she will continue playing softball and major in psychology. Her best friend on the team Cienna is going to a different D2 college to play as well and Megan says, “It’s bittersweet that we will be going to different colleges but it’ll be fun to be in the same conference and play each other.” Finally, I asked Megan what she’ll miss most about her seasons here at Rodriguez. “I’m going to miss my team. We’ve gotten to know each other and play so well together and I think that it’ll be hard having to learn how to work with a new team. I’ve played with these girls for years and they’re more than just my teammates, they’re like sisters.”
