In the start of the new season, the Rodriguez Lady Mustangs already have a winning streak of 7-2 in their preseason games. This year’s varsity is made of mostly returners, which means they know how to work well together. The team is also set up with a mix of all classes– 2 freshmen, 2 sophomores, 6 juniors, and 4 seniors– to prepare younger players for their future years on varsity. With only four seniors on the team, they plan on playing their hardest and making the most out of this season. Knowing how early conditioning and practices started (back in February), we can only assume that this years varsity is more than ready to go and win it at playoffs, especially considering how well they’re starting off their season.  I can expect to see lots of wins along with many good times along the way. Some words from one our own soon to be graduate, Makayla Caballero: “I’m more than excited for what’s to come this season. I’ve been through so much with these girls and so much with this sport. I’m planning to play in college, but if this is my last year I hope to make it a memorable one”. I could tell from interviewing some of the girls that this has started off as a really good season and they plan for many more wins like from our returning junior Mia Yee, who says, “As much as I miss last year and our victories then, I can tell this is going to be a great season not only for our team but for me as a player. I hope to learn a lot before becoming a senior next year.” We expect only greatness this season for the varsity Lady Mustangs while they continue to make memories.
